Singing Doctors Postcards

This has been lots of fun to work on! I was asked by Welsh National Opera MAX (WNO outreach and education) to draw some illustrations for their “Singing Doctors” project. Nine singers, dressed as “doctors” of varying types will be visiting hospitals around Wrexham and singing to patients – to help their recovery! It’s a fantastic project and I’ve loved being involved in illustrating these cards. The postcards will be handed out to patients in the hospital.

Bunt!

I’ve recently finished painting a giant wooden piece of bunting for Drawn in Bristol’s “Bunt” show, which is being held outdoors around Brizzle’s Harbourside area 9th-17th June. It’s part of the Big Green Week here and should look really pretty when all the pieces (about 100 bunts) are hung together. This is it as a work in progress (one damselfly left to paint).. I chose to paint damselflies because of my dad’s uncontrollable delight every year when the larvae hatched from his back garden pond and it swarmed with these beautiful creatures…

Misfits Aardman Screening Day!

Tomorrow we’re all off to Aardman Studios for the Gala Premiere of the animation I’ve been making with Misfits Theatre Company over the past few weeks! We’re all terribly excited – the visit includes a tour round the studios as well. I’m not allowed to sneak any of the animation onto my website before the screening, but here’s Linus, one of the stars of the film relaxing and watching some of the rushes…

Misfits Animation Project

For the past few weeks I’ve been running an animation project for the wonderful Misfits Theatre Company, here in Bristol, along with Max Simpson and Sam Owen of Birmingham-based band Pram. It’s going excellently, and everyone’s very excited about it all – making up their own characters and stories, puppetmaking, as well as getting to play and record sounds on the amazing retro electronic instruments brought in by Sam and Max. Just two weeks left to go, and then it’s time to edit it all and dub on the sound ready for a special premiere at Aardman Studios special screening room on April 27th! We’re all terribly excited about that too, as you can imagine.

As usual, I’ve been too busy to remember to take any photos of the sessions so far, but the Misfits are doing their own blog, so click here if you’d like to have a look at some pics and read what the participants think of it all!!
